Access Types

There are four ways to gain access to VAC (see below for more information on each):

Full membership: Allows the shareholder to use the pool for the summer season, provided dues are paid by the required deadline or if dues and the required late fees are paid. There is a generally a waiting list for the limited number of membership shares in existence.

Summer Lease: Allows a non-member household to use the facility for a summer season. A share is available to lease only If a shareholder elects to forgo use of VAC for a summer season. The share can then be leased by VAC to a non-member via VAC. For clarity, any lease executed directly by a member is invalid and may be grounds for forced sale of the members share.

August Pass: A limited number of August Passes may be sold annually. An August Pass allows a non-member household to use VAC from August 1 to closing day (typically Labor Day), inclusive, of that year. Price will vary annually.

Guest Pass: See link for current Guest Pass fee. While using VAC facilities, a Guests is subject to the same provisions and rules that apply to members.

Waiting Lists

VAC has two separate waiting lists: one for PURCHASES and one for LEASES

PURCHASES: The waiting list to purchase a membership is always open. The current wait is about 36-48 months. To get on the list: please send a letter with your name, address, phone number, and email address to the postal/mailing address on the About page. (Important: send to the PO Box address, NOT the pool address!) Include a check for $25, made out to "Vienna Aquatic Club", which is a deposit on an eventual share purchase. If you are offered a membership and you decline, your name will be removed from the Purchase Waiting List, the $25 fee is not refunded, and you are free to re-apply in the future. EMAIL AND VOICEMAIL REQUESTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED FOR THIS LIST.

LEASES: The waiting list for leases is rebuilt annually and is structured to provide preference for current lease-holders. For current lease-holders, the waiting list for summer leases (for "next year") opens at midnight on the day after the pool closes in the "current" year. (For example, the 2023 summer lease waiting list opened at midnight on September 6 (just after 11:59pm on Labor Day).) For everyone else, including August Pass Holders, the waiting list opens at midnight 7 days later. Requests are only accepted via email to membership@vacpool.org

Important: Requests received before the relevant window is open will be ignored; you will NOT receive an acknowledgement that your early request is being ignored. (This is very important for non-lease holders submitting emails during the current-lease-holder window; you may think you are on the list, but you are not.)

The number of leases varies from year to year. Therefore, all current leaseholders are not guaranteed to receive an opportunity to lease next year.

Please watch the website for specifics and note that the lease list usually closes in mid-October due to the limited number of memberships available for lease.

Fees

Fees for the 2023 swim season have been set by the VAC Board of Directors as follows:

• Membership dues: $575

• Lease fee (for members whose share is leased for the season): $75

• Summer lease fee: $850

• August pass fee: $300

When to Pay:

Annual Membership Dues must be paid by March 15, of the current year. Members whose payment is not received by March 15, of the year will be assessed a $75 late fee. Failure to submit payment by the due date causes the share to be sold without shareholder consent. See "Special Considerations" below.

How to Pay:

Dues payments (for Members) can be made via mail (check) or electronically via the online membership system. Payments for Summer Leases and August Passes are also made via the online membership system. Access is via a link off the main page using supplied login credentials.

Special Considerations:

Important notes for members who intend to sell or lease for the summer season:

• VAC By-Laws require that a member pays the annual membership dues even if member is attempting to sell or lease the share.

• A member who wishes to sell or lease a share must pay the then-current leasing fee to initiate the leasing process; and also pay the dues on time to avoid the late fee.

• Electing to lease one's share does not guarantee that the share will be leased;

• The member will receive a refund of dues based on the date the share is sold or leased.

• A member is required to pay the annual dues even if they do not plan to use the pool.
